Consolidating the ISO Usability Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
In recent years software usability has become a major research theme in the software engineering community. Up to now, only a few software quality models address the usability evaluation and measurement in a detailed and structured way. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) developed a variety of models to measure software usability, but none of these models cover all usability aspects. Furthermore, they are not part of the current software engineering practices and no tool exists to support it. The motivation of this research is to address these limitations by proposing a consolidated, normative model for the evaluation of software usability.

Introduction: A systematic approach is needed for effective coping an incident. In such a system, the preparedness is the top priority. The organization’s readiness depends on some factors, including regular exercises. To conduct a proper exercise it is necessary to have a comprehensive scenario. Despite of repetitive execution of exercises, there is no commonly accepted template for it. ...
متن کاملUsability Perspective in Software Quality
This paper presents usability perspective in the most frequently used models of software quality characteristics, namely FCM, CSQ and ISO 9126. Furthermore, it discuses the requirements, in terms of usability, in ISO 9001 quality assurance international standard (using the ISO 9000-3 guidelines for software as well), in Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards and in Capability Maturity Model. ...
متن کاملUsability Measurement: A Roadmap for a Consolidated Model
Usability is increasingly recognized as an important quality factor for interactive software systems, including traditional GUIs-style applications, Web sites, and the large variety of mobile and PDA interactive services. Unusable user interfaces are probably the single largest reasons why encompassing interactive systems – computers plus people, fail in actual use. The design of this diversity...

Abstract: This chapter will be of interest to people wishing to find out more about usability and how to achieve it, and to those responsible for delivering and sustaining usable systems. It introduces the international standards for usability and their use in government system acquisition, and details their requirements for ergonomics and human-centered design (HCD). It describes the ISO proce...
